Admissions Information

For admission to the HTCI Master's program, students must meet the requirements of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS):

  • Bachelor's degree with at least B average (3.0 on a 4.0 point scale) or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Submission of results of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) general test
  • Submission of the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for students who are from countries where English is not an official language and who do not hold a degree from an accredited American institution of higher learning. The Test of Written English (TWE) is also recommended.
  • One letter of recommendation

CCAS is on a continuous admission basis; therefore, students are invited to apply anytime. Students may take up to nine credit hours before being admitted to the program.

Preference in admission is given to those applications with strong academic credentials and appropriate undergraduate preparation.

This online process allows you to submit your graduate application and electronically send requests for letters of recommendation. To receive the traditional printed application by mail, please call (202) 973-1130.

  • Completed application form with non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended
  • Official GRE test scores
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose (250 to 500 words)

Transfer of Credit

With advisor approval, up to 9 credit hours of coursework may be accepted as transfer credit. Such coursework must have been taken within the past two years, must be related subject matter, must not have been applied toward another degree, and must have been successfully completed with a grade of B or higher.
